Vocabulaire IT et monde du travail

Recto-verso.

bandwidth bande passante to encrypt chiffrer to upgrade mettre à niveau an interface une interface

a hackerun pirate
unauthorized accessaccès non autorisé
an account takeoverprise de contrôle d'un compte
phishingl'hameçonnage
credential theftvol d'identifiants

encryptionle chiffrement

man-in-the-middle nomme l'attaque, pas l'attaquant.

⚡ Les technologies qui montent

artificial intelligence (AI)l'IA
machine learningapprentissage automatique
computing powerpuissance de calcul
a data centrecentre de données
virtual reality (VR)réalité virtuelle
augmented reality (AR)réalité augmentée
quantum computinginformatique quantique
automationl'automatisation
digital skillscompétences numériques

Britannique / américain : centre / center, organisation / organization, labour / labor.

under the hoodà l'intérieur, dans les rouages to move the needleavoir un impact réel
low-hanging fruitles améliorations faciles, à faire d'abord to boil the oceanvouloir tout résoudre d'un coup
back to the drawing boardtout reprendre dogfoodingtester son propre produit en interne

to apply for a jobcandidater
a cover letterlettre de motivation
a job interviewentretien d'embauche
a vacancy · an open position poste à pourvoir
to hire · to recruitembaucher
an internship · a trainee un stage · un stagiaire
a fixed-term contractun CDD
a permanent contractun CDI
overtimeheures supplémentaires
a shiftun poste, une équipe
a pay riseune augmentation
benefitsavantages sociaux
net ≠ gross incomenet ≠ brut
teleworking · remote work le télétravail

Le salarié choisit to quit · to resign · to hand in one's notice
L'employeur, pour faute to fire · to sack · to dismiss
L'employeur, pour raison économique to lay off · to be made redundant
redundancy = le licenciement
unemployment = le chômage

⚡ L'entreprise

to report to pour monter
to be in charge of pour descendre

responsible for ce dont on s'occupe · responsible to la personne devant qui on répond.

a sole traderentreprise individuelle — responsabilité illimitée
a partnershipsociété de personnes, parts égales
a LTDSARL — actions non cotées, responsabilité limitée
a PLCsociété cotée, actionnaires élisant le conseil
a parent company / a subsidiary société mère / filiale

Le mot pivot : liability, la responsabilité financière.

⚡ Le courriel professionnel, phrase par phrase

ObjetSubject: Request for information regarding…
AppelDear Ms Martin, — sans point sur Ms
MotifI am writing to inquire about…
MotiverI am particularly interested in your organization due to its strong reputation in…
DemanderI would be grateful if you could provide me with more information about…

I am also used to meeting deadlines and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
RemercierThank you in advance for your time and consideration.
AttendreI look forward to hearing from you soon.

⚡ Remplacer « very »

very busyswamped very carefulmeticulous
very boringtedious very creativeinnovative
very difficultarduous very bigcolossal
very angryenraged very confusedbaffled

to supportprendre en chargeendurer to bear, to stand
to attendassister àattendre to wait for
to assistaiderassister à to attend
sensibleraisonnablesensible sensitive
a delayun retard, la latenceun délai a deadline
to controlpiloter, dirigervérifier to check
to achieveréussir, atteindreachever to complete
a libraryune bibliothèqueune librairie a bookshop

Génitif — appartenance, avec 's : children's books, Google's workforce, the company's debts.

Le test : peut-on dire « of » ?
oui → génitif · non → nom qualifiant

to rise monte tout seul (intransitif) · to raise monte quelque chose (transitif) : rising labour costs.
